£27 million stars linked
By - 21/05/2008 20:44
Despite the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the future of Sven-Goran Eriksson, the media abounds with rumours of transfer targets.

Latest in the frame is Espanyol's Pablo Zabaleta.

The Argentine international is on the lookout for a new club with Italy or the Premier League his preferred destination.

The versatile 23 year-old who can play either in midfield or at right back has been made available by the La Liga outfit and the Blues are reported to be interested, with a fee of £15 million being mentioned.

Espaynol's sporting directore Paco Herrera confirmed Zabaleta's availability but said no firm offers had yet been forthcoming:

"There are many rumours about our players, but we have not received an offer," said Herrera.

Meanwhile City have also been linked for Zenit St Petersburg man Andriy Arshavin, star of last week's Uefa Cup final.

The 27 year-old Russian international is thought to be available for around £12 million with Everton and Spurs also interested.

I think it was coming from investors from Thailand, Hong Kong and China, sadly the wheels have come off the campaign though.

*directs Timps to the 'Today' thread*
