At last people seem to be saying how silly it is to have transfer deadlines after the start of the season. The Premier league and the EFL seem likely to vote for a deadline before the first matches, eminently sensible. Trouble is unless all the other transfer windows are the same it won't work . UEFA will say all of Europe has to be the same and FIFA will stick up for them. The Coutinho situation will still occur and that sort of thing will still defeat the object. In years gone by the rules were that you could transfer any time until 6 weeks before the end of the season. A return to that might be an answer.
