Manchester City manager Mark Hughes will return to old club Blackburn Rovers to raid Irish international Steven Reid, according to report

Reid is currently recovering from minor surgery on his knee last month but is expected to be fit for the Barclays Premier League kick-off in August.

And by that time he could have swapped the blue and white halves of Ewood Park for the sky blue shirts at Eastlands.

The Irish Sun claims that Hughes, who worked with Reid for four years at Blackburn, is keen to rejoin forces with the 27-year-old midfielder.

He's a bit injury prone

Where does he play? I know he's quite good, but if he's a left midfielder I'd have to pass

He's a central midfielder and no better than anybody we currently have. Backwards step imo.

He hardly played for ROI in the Euro qualifiers. He is on the recovery table more than on the pitch. Should have been shipped off to the glue factory years ago.

Don't rate Reid, don't want Bentley or Santa Cruz.

Hughes is at a bigger club with more financial backing. He should be setting his sights higher.

Funny how he left Blackburn because he wanted a bigger club with greater spending power that could attract top players and he may now start replacing the City squad with the Blackburn squad.

Most PL teams have one or two quality players, there's nowt wrong with targeting them.

I agree with GL about Reid, but Santa Cruz is a clas act plus we were looking at him last summer when the money was there but we missed out.

Agreed. The only thing Reid might give us is a few more yellow cards. Johnson is better. So is Ireland. If we buy a midfielder we should make it someone like Gatusso. Hard tackling but good on the ball too.

If he was class he wouldn't have signed for Blackburn.

And Bentley is a cock.
