lionel Messi: Sergio Aguero will shine at Manchester City

Published: 14 Aug 2011
SERGIO AGUERO has been tipped to shine at Manchester City by the best player on the planet.

The Argentine striker moved to City this summer in a £35million switch from Atletico Madrid
And national team pal and Barcelona star Lionel Messi believes Roberto Mancini's men now have a player that can see them challenge for a host of silverware both at home and in Europe.
Messi said: "I have no doubt that he will be successful at City.
"He will give them a real cutting edge. He's unique — he has immense power, strength and an incredible work ethic. He will certainly stand out in terms of what he will bring to City.
"Defenders will find him so difficult to play against.
"There is no doubt in my mind that City have signed a very exceptional player."
Aguero is expected to be on the bench tomorrow for City's season opener at home to Swansea.
But Messi has no fears the 23-year-old will be able to adapt quickly to the physical nature of the Premier League.
He added: "Aguero is flexible and can play in a number of positions. Adapting to the pace of the Premier League won't be a problem.
"Carlos Tevez has been a huge success in England and Aguero will be no different.
"I think it shows the serious intent of Manchester City when they are signing a player of his quality.
"Personally I would have loved to have seen him stay in Spain and preferably move to Barcelona.
"But he was excited by the challenge and ambition of City. Money isn't a motivating factor for him. He loves a challenge.
"More importantly, he wants to win trophies and obviously feels the move offers him that opportunity in England."

A fair start to his City career I would've thought.. 2 goals, 1 assist in 30 minutes. GET IN THERE!

Meh. Flatters to deceive. Thought Bernado 'Italian Perm' Corradi made a more promising debut to be honest.

Once upon a time I went to Boundary Park for a pre-season friendly where we sang "you'd be fucked if we weren't here" and Dickov/Weah combined to show the possible fruits of a legendary future partnership.

I've forgot where this post was going. Sorry.

Can everybody please stop calling him Kun? Not sure why but it bugs me

Loved how happy he was to both score and assist. Mancini reckons he's a "photocopy" of Romario. That'd do

Not a bad yield at all a couple of goals and an assist. Possibly the most promising thing was that him and little davy silva linked up pretty well. This really could be a good season. Nasri, Silva and Aguero. Mario on the bench and probably carlitos too until January. Not a bad side we have ey?

I know. Did you see the team we had out last night? Let's not forget Clichy and that poor Savic who was categorically outshone by Serge's debut.

If we can nab Nasri, I may get a tenner on us for the treble.

Oh and;

Kun Aguero walks on water,
tra la la la la la la la
He's shagging Maradona's daughter,
tra la la la la la la la la....
