Fuck knows, who will 'lead' our attack on Saturday.

I have my doubts that there'll be one tbh.

I did mention maybe sticking Silva upfront?

He was our best player last night and only played 20 mins.

If we play for a point so too speak, and get bummed by the odd goal or two ala Chelsea, I propose the first riot in the new Wemberleeee.

You could live with him being fucking useless, That trait isn't exclusive to him. It's the turning his back on shots and pulling out of 50/50s that infuriates me. Defend him all you like but with the exception of Silva mancini signings are on the whole shite. Im including yaya as well because one good performance in among 10 bad ones is nowhere near good enough.
At least Villa have no one playing remotely well enough to hoodwink us with this season. Zabelata has to play saturday, at least his heart is in it.

Shitting out of the challenge/block for hte 2nd goal is unforgivable, its not the first time either.

Because we didn't buy him? Remember when it was just a matter of time before we got the flying fullbacks in and that would sort out our lack of attacking prowess?

He bought Dzeko and rarely plays him. Maybe even Mancini draws the line at Edin'd level of shitness, although I suspect he picks Kolarov because we didn't/haven't a great deal of choise in that position.

I'm fairly certain we'll be in the race to sign Ashley Young in the summer.

I might remind you all that half the reason we signed AJ/Milner/Barry is to comply with new FA rules about English make up of team. We may have to get use to Milner and Barry yet...

Am I the only one who thinks Edin had a really good first half yesterday? Bearing in mind they were all over us and service was basically non-existant, he held the ball up really well and showed some really good skill. Calling him slow is unfair, he was never going to be the kind of attacker that skins defenders, that's not his game and not what helped him score so many goals in Germany and for his national team. Granted didn't do much second half but he wasn't our worst player by a long way yesterday.

I am surprised we weren't in for him while he was still at Sunderland. While he is not the best in the world, he has done well in the prem, as a lone striker, with fuck all service. With hindsight seems like an even more sensible approach.

Good point, top drawer home-growns are hard to come by tbf

Yeah I agree with that, I think he get's a raw deal. As for him not putting effort in, as someone earlier said, I think I must be watching a different player.

But I'm not sure that either Barry or Milner fall into this category tbh.

I didn't think he played particularly well but I don't want to get on his case at all, you're right its just not his game. Some strikers thrive with their back to goal, some like the ball in front of them.

How many do we need in the squad though? Which 7 or 8 gettable homegrowns would you have in the squad?
Every team needs a certain amount, the top 4 or 5 teams need 30 or so between them, there aren't that many out there. We have 4 of the starting XI as it is tbf, the rest of the starting XI are either unachievable or not worth having IMO. We need them in the squad, whether we play them against top opposition is another question entirely.
