i like most have been disappointed by his form so far....granted the man has a great left foot but he is totally lacking pace and urgency which is essential in the premier league....he was billed as the white roberto carlos but so far as fallen way short....we can only hope that being his 1st season he is just taking time to adjust, but even as i write this my head is telling me that this doesnt look like happening!!

im sure his pace wasnt an issue in italy and it looks like roberto has maybe overlooked this very important quality.....look at the better left backs in this league and they offer so much more than kolarov----baines, evra, cole, etc!!!

anyway come saturday when he smashes the winner in with a 30yard free kick all will be forgotten and hero status bestowed;);)

how do we manage to do it year after year?

every fucking time we manage to buy full backs for huge amounts of money who are shite, this guy is starting to make bridge look like an inspired purchase

the last decent lb we had was pearce, he'd prolly do a better job now

With the new rules about to kick in, we've left it a tad late to realise we've bought a load of duffers. The value for money index is on it's arse when you consider Boateng, Kolarov and Dzeko. All Mancini signings, all could cost him his job.

Kolarov ain't that bad, he just can't defend. It's the hardest position on the pitch to fill...who else would we look at?

Which I'd have thought would be the primary objective when buying a DEFENDER???

By your reasoning Danny, why not buy a wide midfielder and stick him at left or right back?? Same shit.

Couldn't agree more with this comment, we also have to look at Barry, Lescott, Dzeko and Mancini. When you hammer a team 5 - 0 and require some momentum going into probably the biggest game City have played in years..change the team, so
1. Carlos Tevez is embroiled in tackles that he shouldn't be making (lost for the season)
2. Gareth Barry gets a game
3. Kolarov proves to us all what he really is (fucking useless)

Some inspired managerial decisions.:(

Dropping our two best players this season in De Jong and Silva is just the icing on the cake.

"I know what I did wrong" Do you Roberto? That's nice, I feel all the better now.

That first half defensive performance was one of the worst i can recall - albeit i've got a shit memory nowadays. Kolorov's complete lack of defensive instinct was part of the story although the bigger issue for me was the abject performance of the midfield. Its fair enough for full backs to push up when a team is bossing possession but when the midfiled is getting overrun they've got to be more disciplined and Kolorov aint got that in him.

Agreed, I primarily want a wing back to be a defender first, sadly there are FA of these swinging about. A Cole is a good one, Evra on occasion...who else?

I actually think the only place Barry should be is LB. As he can tackle and hold a ball up, just not a clue what to do with it going forward.

LB is tough position to fill, but IMO Bridge IS a better all round player than Kolarov.

QUOTE]

Agree with this 100%. De jong would have been perfect for this game and would have been effective in breaking up the scouse passing game. The fact that he's such a physical player might also have intimidated some of the less experienced liverpool players.

I try not to slag the manager but i am starting to doubt that Mancini understands the British game sufficiently.
