What? No it's not it's stupid, it doesn't make sense. Player like that deserves a better song - preferably one that doesn't ignore the fact that his eyes are like two pieces of quartz set into virgin snow.

You weren't there.

What Maine Road? Yes I was. Unlike David Silva.

God awful song but at least it's a bit lively - this would be much better than the current crop of Silva chants... "He's the maestro of Maine Road" - what the fuck?! Never got near the place

Love that chant. Nothing wrong with a nod to Maine Road

Good point, in fact, lets write a song about lifting the Premier League trophy there on the last ever home game. Fuck it - David Silva lifted the trophy having scored a hattrick against the rags. Anyone that doesn't sing it hates Maine Road.

To the tune of "[enter player's name here] is magic".

Oh David Silva's magic, he wears a magic hat,
He put three past United, the Kippax fans loved that,
Maine Road was delighted, for when it shut its gate,
Silva'd won the league and the party went on late.

Very good Darlo, although I heard that song in my head to the tune of 'My old man's a dustman'.

I'm pretty sure it's the same tune. I've only heard of it through the "Juninho's magic" version so the original tune had never crossed my mind.

Odd reply to me saying I love that chant.

It's a good chant - maestro of Maine Road scans well, namechecks a bit of our history.

I'll assume, given that you only like chants that are rooted in fact you never chant 'fans of the invisible man', 'best team in the land' (because we didn't used to be, obvs) and all that others that embellish facts (or just lie).

This is one of those situations where I feel the world is going mad, or I am :(

It seems idiotic to me to describe some as being "The Maestro of Maine Road" if he never set foot on the place. And far from being a 'nod to Maine Road', it's more like a kick in the teeth to the greats that did actually play there.

You are right, if Squidge sings that song he hates all previous players during the Maine Road era. Youuff today don't give a shit.

I suspected this was the case.

Not quite sure what he's got against the Benerbia, Kinky, and Berkovic's of this world, but I'll be damned if I'm gonna sit by and see their memory desecrated by some upstart who rates them so little that he thinks the title of "Maestro of Maine Road" should go to someone who never played there.

Football chants must be factual.

I'll make sure everybody gets the memo at the next away game so they don't sing the '60,000 empty seats it's only 6-1' chant. Afterall there weren't quite that many. They probably shouldn't sing 'there's only one James Milner' either, there's probably more.

Facts make for the snappiest ditties :8ball:

Saying your team is the best team in the land in all the world is different. The bit about you hating past players was obviously joking, but I know if I was David Silva and I heard people in the crowd describing me as the Maestro of a ground I'd never even played on, I'd think they were a bunch of thickos.

so he's probably not far off the mark, considering your average football fan.
