He's a great signing and a future starter for England.

More of a goal creator than a goal scorer. Can play on the right and cut in, or play on the left and get up and down the touchline.

Better. Finally.

He's excellent as far as I've seen, tres rapid, takes on players, got a solid cross, two feet, not afraid to trek back and a power shot in his quiver. He has been fantastic so far, probably wont make this WC but I couldnt care less, all about City and this boy is looking the goods.

Played, no reason to rest him, unless injured he'll be playing.

He's injured until the start of next season.

He's the best Mancunian midfielder since Paul Scholes.

Skol.

Paul Skols.

It's not really stealing if you pay several million for him, is it?

Fuck I hate Rafael, every time I see him play he is kicking someone, getting shown up for a goal or getting subbed off. Is he any good?

Johnno told to Buck up his Ideas

Adam Johnson has been told by Roberto Mancini to add graft to his craft if he wants to win back his place.

England’s new wing sensation was brought back down to earth with a bump when he was axed by the ruthless Manchester City boss.

Mancini underlined the snub by playing Johnson in his weakened Carling Cup side at West Brom last week in a clear message to the wideman that he needs to work harder.

Mancini is worried Johnson’s overnight success with England when he scored against Bulgaria and Switzerland may have gone to his head and says he must fight to get back into the team.

“Adam is a young player who can improve a lot,” said the Italian. “I would like him to understand that sometimes it is important for a player to play for the team. I think he’s a very important player for us, but at the same time he can improve a lot.

“I am very happy he played well for England, but, yes, I think he must keep his feet on the ground as you say here. Not just Adam, but all young players who sometimes think they have arrived at the top and it’s finished.

“But when you arrived at the top it’s very difficult. It’s easy for a player like Adam, who has good quality to arrive at the top.

“But when you get there, you must stay there always. You can slip back and to prevent this he must work better than before.”

Mancini’s warning to Johnson to knuckle down comes from personal experience and he admits that as a young player he did not appreciate how hard he needed to work to be successful.

He claims he had to be told by former coaches Vujadin Boskov and Sven Goran Eriksson and is trying to do the same favour for Johnson.

“When I started my career, I didn’t work very well, I didn’t work hard,” he said. “I thought that if you have a good quality you can play for the top squad, at the top level.

“But then I realised if you don’t work hard every day hard, you can’t improve. If you have good quality you can play at the top for all your career.

“I had good coaches. Vujadin Boskov changed my mind. Sven too. I worked with Sven for many years. They taught me to work hard.

“I think Adam can have a top career if he understands that he must work, think about football every day, and not on other things.”

Meanwhile, Yaya Toure has urged City not to stumble after their great win over Chelsea like they did when they beat Liverpool last month.

“It was a big win, an important win, and showed that Chelsea are a team that can be beaten just like any other,” said the Ivory Coast star.

“Now we have to show more consistency. We have a lot of injuries, but we have a strong enough squad to keep pace with the top sides

In other words: if you want to play, stop being a skilful winger and convert, immediately, to a grafting central midfielder

He's obviously let his training/standards drop in recent weeks. Mancini is right to try and nip this in the bud before it becomes a problem.
