It's good news, but... I don't know, I've lost a bit of the love.

I know what you mean but a few sterling Dunneyesque performances and you will recapture it. I actually think 4 years is too long a contract but may have been what pompey were offering. Maybe the issue was length of contract and not so much money?........Nah it would have been the money.

MEN or MuEN is the Manchester Evening News. or Manchester United Evening News cuz of their bias towards the other lot. Although they now think there is a bias towards us.

I've never really picked up on the bias either way. They sometimes spout a bit of bollocks but its fairly evenly spread.

Don't mind the sport in there at all.

It's just occurred to me, that our Aussie comrades will probably find the humour in calling him Dunney all the time.:D

Me neither. The writers they use for articles on both teams are well know supporters of each team, so it's exactly as I would expect. I did read a story in the MEN a while ago though where they said they'd had a complaint from united that the paper is pro city. I'm sure I remember that and it wasn't a dream.

This story ran in a few of the nationals a couple of months ago. All the football journos were gathered outside a post-match press conference at Old Trafford when United's kit man spotted the MEN's sports editor, Pete Spencer. Their kit man had a right old shouting fit at Spencer in front of all the gathered press accusing him of not running enough United coverage and having too much City stuff in. Spencer countered that United never give them access to their manager or players so they can't get as much material to fill the column inches. The row went on for a couple of minutes before Ryan Giggs came walking past and Spencer spotted his chance.
"Any chance of a quick interview Ryan?" asked the chirpy Spencer.
A curt "No." from Giggs as he strode past raised a huge cheer from the press pack and had the kit man storming red faced back into the dressing room.

Top stuff...

Manchester City captain Richard Dunne has today penned a new four-year contract with the Club.

The 28-year-old defender was linked with summer moves away from the City of Manchester Stadium, but following talks with Manager Mark Hughes, the Irish international swiftly signed a deal that ties him to the Blues until at least 2012.

After completing the paperwork, Dunne exclusively told mcfc.co.uk: “I’m delighted with it.

“My first priority is, was and always has been to stay at City because I’ve enjoyed it so much and I feel really settled here.

“When Mark Hughes got the job I think everyone was really pleased and I was thrilled that he seemed to make it a priority to sort my contract out. I’m delighted to be able to stay.”

City Manager Hughes himself added: "I'm delighted with the outcome and Richard is a really important player for us.

“It was one of my priorities when I took the job that I made sure that he was one of the players we needed to keep."

And Dunne revealed that his City stay didn’t take long to agree once Hughes had taken over as Blues boss: “As soon as he did we started to talk. It was literally a couple of days and it was all done and dusted.

“I’m pleased now that it’s all been signed and sealed and I can relax a bit more now and concentrate on the season ahead.”
