we all remember our predictions last year though, alot of us had bianchi down to score 15+ and look what happened there, no doubt jo is better than rolando but i wont be singing his praises until i see him bag atleast 5 goals in his first 10 (PL) games.

I hope there isn't going to be too many disappointed people on here.

He's young and it may take some time for him to adjust and bed in. The Russian league is played at a snails pace compared to the EPL, it's going to be a bit of a culture shock, plus he's going up against better quality players on the whole, it could even take a season for him to find his feet.

We've judged new signings before via Youtube, and look what happened.

I think we were all optimistic about Bianchi and even Samaras weren't we ESM?

I suppose this is why proven Premiership strikers carry such high price tags.

On the other hand the £30m that Liverpool paid for Torres looks like a steal now doesn't it?

I just hope that Petrov and co can give the guy plenty of chances early on as confidence is everything for a new striker in the Prem.

At the risk of dredging up old and worn to death topics, I'd love to see Sweeps back and whipping in some crosses to him.

I wasn't too keen on Samaras. I had never heard of him. At least with Jo I've heard of him (albeit through Football Manager)
Saying Football Manager, a rag mate used to swear by him on that game, so if that's anything to go by, and we all know sometimes it is, we've got a bargain

Charlie was shit in 07 with bags of potential the season after. Buy him in ya first season, loan him out and then first team second season BAM! quality!
Look at him now... awesome.
Valeri was the same, but we'll have to see how that one goes

I put 16-20, after all don't all players need time to settle in the Prem? Next he'll be scoring like... 9,999 goals per match, blink and you'll miss a goal.

It was much closer to 20, about 22 or 23 from memory, so i hope we are getting a player near torres quality if we are only paying a few mill less.

EDIT: in March 2008, manager Rafael Benítez confirmed to The Times that Torres was acquired for around £20 million.[17] from perhaps the greatest and most reliable source of them all :p

Something tells me Premiership top scorer next season.

It could go one of two way, as above or he doesn't turn up all season, and puts away about 3.

I'm picturing a big barge with football games taking place on its deck.

Without changing the thread subject too much, who do we reckon our strike partnership will be next season?

Or shall I open a new thread?
