Should be second name on the teamsheet for England this summer. Best English center back by a mile this season.

To be fair, despite the Americanism this is spot on. All this talk of the racist and the wereduck and nobody is even mentioning our Jolene. Should defo be in ahead of those two. Best defensive record in the league, only missing seven of those games and he works every day with the first choice goalkeeper

Fair doos Noddy. Good point, best defence in the league and JL contributes plenty to that. Be great to be rid of JT, who by the way had a shocker against scouse on Tuesday and perhaps partner him with Cahill, and Cole and Richards. Be great to see that at Euros.

Micah must be royally pissed off that he lost his place around the time that a new England manager came in. I'd be very surprised if Walker wasn't first choice.

Hmmm. I recognise that Walker is a good player but at the highest level? Surely Micah has more experience and maturity. Plus versatility to an extent

I'd pick Micah ahead of Walker every day of the week, but I don't think Woy will.

I would like to see Lescott and Jagielka as the central pairing. They contributed to Spain not scoring in that friendly last year. Richards v Walker for right back could go either way. I would imagine they'll get a game each in the warm-ups and then one or the other will be given the nod. Richards offers an extra threat from corners, Walker is better should the ball drop to him on the edge of the box. As long as it ain't Johnson, I won't be too disappointed.

Averages a booking every 34 games. 1 so far this season (same as Shrek) for a dodgy handball against Everton. So pretty clean tackler. Personally I think he needs to up that ratio and nail a few more.

just drop this little stat here...

City's Premier League win ratio with Vincent Kompany was 74%, and without him 71%, while the ratio with Lescott was 81%, without was 43%.

Would have been absoloutely horrendous if we had lost the league through Lescotts mishap today, no doubt he would have gotta bit of battering, but even though what a shift he's put in this season. Him and Vinnie have been Colossal.

Think Joleons well worth an England call.

totally agree

would have been gutted for him if that had been the end of his season, he's been immense all year.

Manchester City are targeting Newcastle's Fabricio Coloccini and Liverpool’s Daniel Agger as possible replacements for Joleon Lescott.

The Blues are looking to bolster their defensive options this summer, leaving a question mark over the future of the England defender.

With Roberto Mancini keen on the pair, along with Athletic Bilbao defender Javi Martinez, the 29-year-old England stopper could be the odd man out at Eastlands.

Lescott, who had the best season of his career when he helped Manchester City to the Premier League title and starred for England during Euro 2012, has just two-years left on his current deal.

Talks on a possible extension were always planned to take place after this summer's tournament in Poland and Ukraine, along with the likes of Gareth Barry and James Milner, but now his future in the North West is uncertain.

Manchester City's spending won't end with a defender though with the champions also keen on Arsenal skipper Robin Van Persie and Napoli striker Edinson Cavani.

-------------------------------------
Where did this sort of thing come from? Lescott has had a very good season, so why would the club let him go? There are other defenders to go first - Kolo Toure and Savic.
