The latest transfer target for Phil Brown is reported to be former Manchester City midfielder Geovanni.

Despite starting well in Manchester and scoring the winning goal in the Manchester derby during his third game at the club, the Brazilian midfielder has not had his contract renewed following the arrival of new manager Mark Hughes and is now a free agent.

It is believed that Phil Brown is interested in the midfielder and that the Brazilian has joined Hull City in their high altitude training camp in Italy.

The possible signing of Geovanni could be Hull's second deal of the summer having signed Craig Fagan from Derby County for £750,000 today.

The Derby County winger becomes the club's first recruit having had his loan made permanent in a three year deal at the KC Stadium.

As Geovanni is rumoured to be training with the club, City have also been linked with a striker plying his trade in the Dutch league although his identity remains secret.

We'll continue to keep you updated as we hear more news!

He's definitely not a Hughes type player. Hughes likes players to roll up their sleeves and get stuck in. Gio doesn't even have sleeves. I doubt he'd roll'em up if he did.

Jesus Christ, tell me they're talking about Hull City and not us.

Just a one year contract. He's now a free-agent.

I agree, he deserved a bit more time. He didn't play that much, but I will never forget him. He scored a great goal against the rags, and he scored the fastest goal of season 2007/2008 when we played at the JJB Stadium.

Will never forget you Geovanni

I suspect Samaras will make a permanent move to Celtic, maybe the friendly is part of the deal?? That said, if Hull want Bianchi they're welcome.

If he doesn't track back more and put a bit of effort in they'll drop him by October. As i said, happy to see him go.

I always thought that geovanni was a great player with graet skill he scored three goals in three starts and had about 11 sub apperances i think that Hughes didnt offer him a new contract because he was too light weight. good luck at hull geo.

In some ways Geovanni was a perfect creative MF sub. He had excellent skill and foresight, and would start working the second he was on the pitch. Although he was a liability defensively that can work to an advantage. If you were 10 minutes to go and a goal in the red, he was the person the defence would find to spark something up front.

All heresy now, good luck Geo, you are sure to score against us this season, I can see miles away. I enjoyed (nearly) every time you ran on the pitch. Obrigado gajo. ;)

"All heresy now" and "I can see miles away"

And I might as well throw this bit in too "Obrigado gajo" just cuz I don't know what it means.

Yeah it doesn't make much sense now read it, I guess, erm;

All heresy now = cos he's gone, he's actually no longer with the club.

I can see miles away = erm, *scratches head* I think I meant I can see it coming miles off.

Obrigado gajo = thanks dude

he was one of Sven's projects. Brought in on spec to see if he could consistently find the magic he seemed to promise. he couldn't.

he's too expensive to keep as a squad player. We need better if we are going to do better.

Good luck to him though.
