I don't think it would be that great a lifestyle. Read somewhere that a player agent has 4 mobile phones he uses during transfer window and a bill of £2500 for the month. Sleeps fuck all during that time. That said he would be dead quiet for long stretches.

You don't really dine with footballers... more like the club directors and the occasional manager. T'is definitely the busiest time of the year (especially now)...lots of e-mails/calls/meetings. But if that's what you enjoy doing... this is also the best time of the year :approve:

Who would have thought 12 months ago we'd even be having this discussion? He used to be the player that was rested for smaller games and a shoe in for the big ones. Mancini et al must have noticed something and they were right: the proof is in the pudding

I don't want rid of him but he is afraid of the tackle more than he used to be, can't say I blame him really with the current climate.

Nigel De Jong has not been the same player since breaking Ben Arfa's leg

Yep. Every transfer window it gets busier for me, but it's fun. I don't really deal with any big clubs... only some eastern european B leagues at the moments. During the transfer windows it's my main occupation.

Nah, he was awesome all of last season, and the fact that he stood firm and refused to apologise in the face of everyone going on about him being a dirty player says it all.

I just think he's suffered because mancini has changed the style of play now and he doesn't really fit it anymore. And when he does get brought on or gets a rare start, he's lacking match practice so not as sharp as he can be.

I want him to stay and get a run of games - I think there's definitely still a place for him in the tougher away games where I think he should be an automatic selection. But if he leaves, so be it.

Love him to bits though.

I heard one football "expert" a while ago say that De Jong doesn't get much game time because he can't move the ball around as fast as the alternatives, hence less game time. I feel that's a fair assessment.

Oh right.

It's for Squidge to give opinions on things that nobody asked for.
