I might not get the chance tomorrow, so i just wanted to take this chance to pay my respect on the anniversary of marco's untimely death.
6 years since he went, and it quite profoundly affected me.
I was watching the match on eurosport, and saw what happened and selfishly hoped he was going to ok for the following season.

It was a little later my mum told he had died..

I went straight to maine road, and it was already a sea of flowers shirts and scarfs and tears for a fallen hero..

Image

The last player to score at maine road, i can't think of anything more fitting..
Always played with a smile on his face.
Gone but not forgotten..
1 May 1975 - 26 June 2003
Thanks marco..

perhaps a complimentary Kleenex should be placed upon each seat at Eastlands this year?

Much respect and thoughts for his family.

That said, I don't think we should have retired the number. That may seem harsh, and I don't mean it to, but there, I said it.

Come on, he's the last player to score at Maine Road. And don't forget the way he died, that's the less we can do tbh. I watched the game live, and it's like yesterday. It's been six years ago .

I know, I know, I know, and I don't mean to belittle it, or be insensitive, but he wasn't even owned by City. I won't go into it though, because it does seem insensitive, and it really isn't meant like that. A discussion for another time perhaps.

Reckon we'd still have done it if he played in number 6 rather than 23? I'm not so sure, but then I'm a cynical bastard. Great player though and obviously a top bloke. The emotion showed by the France players in the next international they played was a tribute to him.

Top man. Top, top man.

I remember the night he died. My mate who's a rabid rag (he's the one with the banner with the rotating numbers) phoned me up to tell me and I thought it was a wind up. Then heard it on the news. Gutted.

I also don't think we should have retired the shirt tal ben.

My cousin told me. I've never had anyone personal die in sudden circumstances, so it shocked me quite a bit. Top player.

It puts it into perspective a bit. Sorry, I'm coming across like an arse on this thread, and it really, really isn't intentional.

Was the first player i could ever say i idolized.

He was the player who got me into supporting City, watched him on the telly one time and i knew i'd always be a blue after that moment.

RIP Marc. You will always be missed.

He was only on loan. And everyone used to say "I hope we don't sign him"

Then, the following season, everyone's got Foe 23 on their shirts. Hypocrites
He had great bandy legs, though. Him and the Chop

City fans everywhere will take a moment today to remember Marc-Vivien Foe, the popular midfielder who collapsed and died aged 28 during a match at Lyon's Stade de Gerland Stadium on June 26, 2003.

Marc-Vivien, who had spent a successful 2002-03 season on loan at City from Lyon, was playing for Cameroon in a Confederations Cup semi-final against Colombia when he collapsed in the centre circle after 72 minutes.

Desperate and lengthy efforts to revive him failed, and an autopsy later revealed that his death was heart-related. Marc-Vivien was given a state funeral in Cameroon, while City retired his No.23 shirt as a mark of respect.

Foe, who won the French title with Lyon in 2002, made 38 starts in 41 matches under manager Kevin Keegan, and scored nine times, including City's last-ever goal at Maine Road in a 3-0 win over Sunderland on April 21.

Club Secretary Bernard Halford says, "Marc-Vivien was popular with fans and fellow players, and the shock of his loss is still as fresh today as it was in 2003. He never gave less than his best and will always be remembered with affection by everyone connected to Manchester City."

Well, I thought he was good for us and I was hoping we would sign him.

It was shocking when he died. I'll never forgive the Daily Star for the pictures they used on the front of their rag.
