after attending last nights match my first impressions of Nigel De Jong were quite good, he did exactly what we expected and just sat deep, looked quite snappy in the tackle too, nothing flash but overall could become a vital member of the team.
:)
what do you think?

I think bearing in mind he hadn't played a first team game for 3 months it was a very good debut. Will get much better too.

good player de Jong. He'll sit there in that midfield and soak it up all day. Excellent signing.

He has cracked a bone in Owen's ankle on his debut! 10/10

Have to agree he looked good. He gave us an interesting look combined with Zabs, Ned, and Kompany.

what about Richard Dunne? will he autmomatically get back in when he gets back from being suspended? if so who will be left out?

i know things could look different in 3 games time but overall last night i think we looked good at the back!!!!!

Been named in the provisional dutch squad. Great buy. When fully fit he will be one of the best holding midfielders around.

If Dunne walks back in to the team I will be hacked off. Dunne out, Ned and Kompany in.

Dunne in for ned would be my guess. But then two clean sheets in the next two games and Hughes will have to leave it be.

I thought he looked very impressive.

On my way out I heard some blokes slagging him off saying he looked useless etc. As others have said, considering he has played approx 20 mins football in the past 3 months, he was fantastic. He is just what City need and I think in time will prove to be another great signing by Hughes.

Well, the strategy of using Dunne when we have Nedum who is a youngster and shows signs of being a a very capable for years top come doesn't make sense. Bleed the youth, now.

Dunne to be on the bench from here in. I know I am a broken record on it but it's got to be the way forward.

Yup. Kompany is a natural born leader. Keep him as captain.

It took minimum half a year before Nigel became the valuable player for Hamburg that he was in the end. I remember his first match for us: It was against Nuremberg and it was horrible.
So, you could take it as a good sign that he had already a convincing performance in his first match.
We will miss him tomorrow night...:(

He did very well last night I though. My biggest laugh was someone near me saying (when De Jong first had the ball) "It's fucking Edghill". He did look a lot like him from the back. :)
