A bit like the world cup, but we're never usually associated with that either :D

Yeah, but there was that thing where they didn't have to go/ stay when them teams won their appeal.

So he could just come back, but he isnt.

If I were the manager, Jo would have played last night. I wouldn't pay 20 million or whatever for a shadow.

but that would be down to city to appeal. the three clubs that appealed got their players back. messi wanted to stay at the olympics.

I know, and I would have appealed.

Maybe just my opinion, but I see it as a lack of loyalty (unless when signing him it was ALREADY agreed he'd be at the Olympics) that he instantly sells us out.

He has alot of making up to do for me when he returns :D.

Pretty sure if I had the chance though, I'd rather play for my country than club?

We wouldn't have this problem if Olympic football was for amateurs only like it used to be and like it should be. We've already got the World Cup and the Euros for professionals.

And what does Michael Phelps do for a living? Brickie? Window cleaner? The olympics hasn't had amateurs in my lifetime, that's for sure. I don't know why football is treated differently.

I'm not having a go btw, I just genuinely wonder about this. Why kick up a fuss about footy? Nadal and Federer play in the tennis, and I would wager 99% of the people there do nothing else for a living other than their athletics...

Not saying there's anything we can do about it and not suggesting that top sports people shouldn't make money out of their talent. (BTW Dean Macey elected not to and I admire him for that as IMO money is skewing all sports these days. But that's just me.)
However, and again IMO, the spirit of the Olympics is tainted by all this crap about club v country and it shouldn't be beyond the adminstrators to differentiate between those sports which meet the true Olympic ideal i.e. athletics, swimming etc and those which are there just to add gloss.

i've said before. if we can replace dunne with a better player we should do it, noone is un-replacable. i would love to see onuoha-richards or onuoha-corluka cb partnership and i really don't have any clue about why we signed ben haim.

i've not seen the match but i'm getting started to lose my confidence on hughes. thaksin is an idiot for sending sven

What and have the ball go through his bandy legs all the time?

Bob Dylan, by the way, Danny. :)

Very good Jeebs, I thought it was him or Woody Guthrie.

So you agree Dunne should leave?

I'm on the fence. I do worry than now he's got his new contract he might lose a bit of focus. But at least now he can't walk away for nothing. The club's now in the box seat.

Box seat? Where does that phrase come from?
