His €40m transfer fee was as big a joke as Carroll to Liverpool. I have no idea what justified that from his previous club form.

He scored 2 goals for Porto last season, in that league! so he was never a major threat from set pieces. He is too similar to Kompany.

He did nothing to justify why his transfer price went from €6.5m to €40m in 3 years.

 that's awful. We don't want another one of those. We already have Boyata anyway!

left to Valencia. Hope we don't regret this one.

We now have Stones, Otamendi, Kompany (every now and again) and Jason Denayaer (who doesn't even show up on the OS). That is not much.

4 full backs, 2 strikers (until the 2nd coming of Jesus), 4 wingers and a whole bunch of center mids...

Appears to be off to Inter Milan.

Can only think we'll be getting another one maybe 2 defenders in

If we intend on playing with three centrebacks (which i think works rather well with two wingbacks) we kinda need another on the bench for when kompany gets broken or one of them gets suspended. Kolarov could fill in reasonably well at cb, but not sure how well the newbies would do that.

I'd say Fernandinho could fill in in a three quite nicely. Other than that, yeah we need cover if we're going to play three.

Thing that gets me is: if the plan was to play three then why have we invested so much in wide attackers? Sterling, Sane and B. Silva don't fit into a 3-5-2 model at all. The players we have lend themselves more to a 4-5-1 IMO but that means leaving Gabby or Kun out.

I think we will be seeing this alternative quite a lot.

I think we will have no alternative. Luckily both strikers are made of glass so it may be that we are forced into it

On loan, hopefully with a "we don't want him back" clause.

Hey, wasn't he particularly shit against Everton?
