Welcome to the club Kidder!

Mediaset: City have agreed personal terms with Stevan Jovetić - a 5-year deal worth around £71,500/week. City offering £21.5m to Fiorentina.

Interesting. I have never seen him kick a ball. A reasonable return of goals at Fiorentina, interesting choice.

He's not an out and out striker so his goal return is actually quite decent. I think he's described as a second striker, whatever one of those is.

Anyway, good age and big reputation so I'm on board with this one you'll be relieved to hear Txiki :handgestures-thumbupright: .

did he do a "welcome to the clun son" for pepe?

maybe he can be a sort of jonah for unwanted signings?

Wouldn't welcome him anyways.

I did do a Welcome to Diego Novaretti when he looked banged on but it went quiet as soon as.

I should stop doing this as i am a bit of a jinx it seems but i'm fairly confident we'll pull this off.

If not i'll hand in my resignation from the forum.

I am prepared to say that Gal is more right about these 'WCS' than he is not and for that reason he has my backing to continue doing so.

Manchester City will make Fiorentina striker Stevan Jovetic their fourth high-profile signing of the summer, subject to a medical on Friday.

City moved quickly to finalise the £22m deal for the Montenegro international as new boss Manuel Pellegrini continues to reshape his squad.

Jovetic, 23, had attracted interest from Arsenal and Manchester United.

City will also announce the signing of Sevilla forward Alvaro Negredo after he passed a medical on Thursday.
• Stevan Jovetic

Born: Titograd, 2 November, 1989
Nickname: The Montenegrin Messi
Clubs: Mladost Podgorica, Partizan Belgrade, Fiorentina
International: Montenegro - 27 caps, 10 goals

With the arrival of Jovetic and 27-year-old Negredo, who scored 26 La Liga goals last season, City will take their spending since the arrival of Pellegrini to almost £90m.

They have already signed Jesus Navas from Sevilla for or £14.9m and Fernandinho from Shakhtar Donetsk for £30m.

Jovetic scored 13 goals in 31 games for Fiorentina last season and will help Pellegrini fill the void left by the departure of Mario Balotelli and Carlos Tevez.

City manager Pellegrini has left the club's pre-season training camp in South Africa to return home to Chile to deal with a personal matter although he could rejoin the squad in Hong Kong early next week.

Assistant manager Brian Kidd, who had a brief spell in charge after Roberto Mancini's sacking at the end of last season, took charge of City's 2-1 friendly defeat to AmaZulu in Durban.

Kidd said: "Manuel's had to go back to Chile for personal reasons.

"Hopefully he will be in Hong Kong on Tuesday, but we are not quite sure at the moment. You want the boss here for obvious reasons.

"The team were well prepared by him for this game. It's been a good work out in South Africa with two tough games."

Fiorentina have reached an agreement to sell the Montenegrin striker Stevan Jovetic to Manchester City, the Serie A club have confirmed.

The 23-year-old has scored 35 league goals in five seasons with Fiorentina, who finished fourth in Serie A last season, and it appears City's lengthy pursuit of the versatile forward has come to fruition.

A statement on the Italian club's official Twitter account, @ACF_Fiorentina, read: "An agreement has been reached with Manchester City Football Club for the permanent sale of the player Stevan Jovetic."

City are also expected to sign the striker Alvaro Negredo from Sevilla in the coming days.

Jovetic – who is as comfortable playing as a lone striker as he is in front of the midfield – finished the 2012-13 season with 13 league goals having scored 14 in the previous campaign. The Montenegro international had missed the entire 2010-11 season in Florence after suffering a cruciate ligament injury in pre-season training.

City, meanwhile, suffered a second successive defeat in South Africa, a late penalty giving AmaZulu a 2-1 win in Durban. Brian Kidd took charge of City after the manager, Manuel Pellegrini, flew home to Chile for family reasons.

City produced a much better performance than Sunday's 2-0 defeat by SuperSport but fell behind to a 20th-minute Bongani Ndulula goal. James Milner equalised six minutes later and the Premier League team dominated after that only for Abdul Razak to concede a penalty which was dispatched by Carlington Nyadombo with seconds remaining.
