Not sure if the early round away legs are going to be anywhere though.

ITV seal UEFA Cup deal with City
July 01 2008

ITV Sport have announced a new deal with Manchester City for exclusive live coverage of the club's UEFA Cup home legs throughout the early rounds of the competition.

City's home ties will be broadcast on ITV4 or ITV1, as well as simulcast free-to-air on itv.com and ITV mobile.

The Blues' first qualification round home clash against EB/Streymur from the Faroe Islands will be played at Barnsley's Oakwell Stadium on 31 July - their following home matches will be played at the City of Manchester Stadium.

ITV holds the exclusive rights to the latter stages of the UEFA Cup, with every game from the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final live on ITV1, ITV4 or itv.com.

ITV Director of News and Sport, Mark Sharman said: "Along with our coverage of the FA Cup, UEFA Champions League and England internationals I'm delighted that we're broadcasting the UEFA Cup.

"This new deal with Manchester City will allow viewers to follow the competition on ITV throughout the season."

I suppose for the away matches they have to negotiate with the teams we play, but I'm sure EB-whatever would be willing to sell the rights for a reasonable wad of cash if ITV wants it.

We've gotta try and sign some players that'll give David Pleat some problems with his pronunciation. Jo is a good start.

I'm convinced that old walnut face goes out of his way to pronounce names incorrectly. he does it with every single player.

Frustrating for the rest of us. Although its maybe a bit more of an incentive to make a couple of trips abroad.
