AC Milan confirmed for Thomas Cook Trophy match 20/06/2008

Manchester City are delighted to announce that AC Milan will be our opponents for this year’s Thomas Cook Trophy match on August 9th.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side, which features the likes of Kaka, Gennaro Gattuso and Filippo Inzaghi, will visit the City of Manchester Stadium for the Blues’ final pre-season friendly, which will kick off at 5.15pm. Ticket details will be announced in due course.

City were the first English side to play Milan in the San Siro and leave unbeaten when they held the Italian giants 2-2 in a UEFA Cup tie in the 1978/79 season, following it up with a famous 3-0 win in the second leg at Maine Road.

Links between the two clubs go even further back, with Malcolm Allison changing the City away kit to the red and black striped design in homage to the Rossoneri.

City's other confirmed pre-season fixtures so far are both away, to Hamburg on July 26th, and to Stockport County on August 2nd. Keep checking mcfc.co.uk for further announcements over the coming days.

As we are now richer than these Italian teams, will we wave wads of cash at them from the stands?

Yes, although I may not get in depending on whether my accesscard plays ball or not:

If it's Mary D's i might be tempted to join.

Could do. I'm holding you personally responsible if it's not glorious weather though.
