Thought the best thing to come out of today (apart from the three points, the performance, SWP's goals and Keane's face!) was the success of the formation. Keeping Johnson & Ireland pushed further forward plays to their strengths, with Kompany & Hammann dominating the centre of the park we looked solid but dangerous too. Thought it was hugely effective, and could make us a major threat away from home this year.

I thought it was a great away performance. especially without elano and petrov. if we can play like that away from home we are going to pick up many points. I can't see Sunderland drop to many points at home. With Kompany and Hamman staying back its allowing Johnson and Ireland to have a more free role as they know they have got cover if they go forward. I was really impressed with the way Jo led the line today. Also I think this formation could help us go along way in Eurpoe. The most pivotal player in our team at the moment for me is Hamman when he plays we play so much better.

Agreed and it helps that Jo did such a good job holding the ball upfront and letting the play build up. The guys played some quality football today and hopefully it will only keep on getting better. Hammann and Kompany did control the game though and never really let Sunderland have any build up in the middle of the pitch in the second half. Great game.

I couldn't agree more. He just seems to control the game, win tackles, win free kicks, and makes really smart passes. He can stay until he is 50 in my opinion if he keeps on playing like this.

I haven't seen the game yet. And even then I'm only gonna get to see highlights on motd2 tonight. It does sound a good formation, though.

And we're 3rd in the table, by the way. :)

Vincent Kompany came out of left field. I had never heard of him and didn't know what to expect. But he seems to be the man that we can build our team around, the connection between defence and midfield, and the best buy in a long time.

Wenger has been following him since he was 16. Ive been waiting for him to come to the premiership for years, but I never thought he would come to city, which im delighted about, hes gonna be awsome

I thought that as well, maybe he upped his game knowing there was more competition with bertie coming in. if he plays like that for the rest of the season then bertie shouldn't get a look in

Tbf it took us a while to get started today...not surprising when you consider how long the players have been together. Kompany and Ball give us real cohesion though and Jo looks great at holding the ball up and SWP...well what can you say?

When this team gels together properly and when Petrov comes back it looks like we have nothing to fear from anyone in the league. This is the most confident I been as a City fan that we can make a real challenge...anyone else thinking the same?

tel ben haim, i wasnt oo impressed first half today, it was kinda worrying. like old city, but then i think they sorta gelled with the goal and went onto work like id never seen before.

another plus for today, soon enough someones gonna come up with a hilarious nickname for berti.

I am indeed. Two of the best wingers in the league. It's like a dream. Only better. And more real.
