I was thinking about the whole Sven thing and it's worth noting that although 10th was supposedly Franks first year target, his second year target was Europe. Now, given that our form curve is going down, not up, it's likely that he concluded that Europe was too far for us next year. I'm not saying I agree with him, and I think Sven's made us a far better team than last year, but you can kind of see his point. The sort of performance we showed against Liverpool is the kind of performance we saw shortly before Keegen went, and again just before Pearce went. The point I'm making is that perhaps Frank believes that Sven has got nothing more to give in terms of affecting the team and perhaps he's right. We saw this for England too.

As I say, I think Sven's done a great job and I'd certainly give him another year to see if he can build on this start, but the kind of sluggish performances we've shown recently have given me cause to wonder. Is this really too early to be firing Sven, or is the timing perfect? I guess there's no way of answering both of those, but if we can find a manager who is prepared to accept when he's wrong and go 2 up front, perhaps it will be for the best.

Great piece that Emigre.
Without slagging Sven off, we need a manager with a bit of guile and bollocks to do something different with the club and take us in a new direction. Whether it be Scolari, Mourinho, Paul Jewell or Dave Jones, we need someone with guts to put two up top and attack while at home, and when we go one nil up, I'd like to see us continue attacking and go for the killer blow, rather than sit back on a lead.
I think yesterday we saw where the team was heading. Heads didn't go down, we stayed at the task in hand and took the game to Liverpool. Thats what I want, rather than thinking "Fuck it, we've lost now"

Sven is a great manager i just think he needs to be a bit more daring at times and let the boys see what they can do in an attacking sense

Totally agree.

That's a brilliant rumour. I'd say it's complete bollocks, but it's still a good rumour.

And stop justifying the decision, all of you. Sure the second half has been shit, and sure Sven has made mistakes. But stop being so greedy. We're in no position to be moaning about 9th place, no matter how we've done it. The slide was only to be expected, we punched above our weight for a long time this season, and then we've ended the season pretty poor. But to compare it to last season, we were nearly relegated. He needs another season to sort things out, if by the end of that we haven't shown any signs of improvement or he isn't changing things, maybe then show him the door.

One pretty successful season into a three year deal is not the time to sack a manager.

True, and he reached the main goal of getting top 10.

No one can answer this question, ONLY Dr Thaksin.

Not even Dr Thaksin can answer that question. That's my point. No one can. You just have to make the decision you believe to be right and see what time brings. This decision can be only be taken by Thaksin but the answer will only be found in a year or two.

And Petrov did hit the post. He wasn't offside as well.

I had a bet on him as first scorer at 16/1. I nearly landed on the dog after my jump up as he hit the post. :(
