You're basically saying we're fucked, one game in, (ok lets for get midgetland) and we wernt that bad. Villa are a stronger, more advanced team than we are and with our current injuries, problems behind the scenes, I dont think we did that badly. We could have been worse, under the circumstances.
At least we fought with a bit of passion yesterday, they looked hungry for it, like they wanted it.

I did think we gave the ball away too much, Etuhu kept running into 2 or 3 defenders and then losing the ball. Fernandes did not offer much I felt and Corluka did not seem to have his heart in it, maybe he is still concerned over last week's farce. Johnson looked good going forward and he worked hard, TBH seemed to be reasonably solid if a little over enthusiastic in the tackle and I can see him collecting a lot of yellow cards. I would like to see Hammann play at least part of each game, just so he can put his foot on the ball and control things more. I don't think, however, that that is the kind of football Hughes will want.
Perov was good and Richards outstanding. Why he is not in the England set up I don't know.

gelson fernandes was the sole reason we lost yeserday, i blame him and him only, it's unfair but i need someone to blame and he was the one who gave the ball away in midfield on a number of occasions and then they scored!!! but to be fair we have looked poor for the last two games.

The loss against Villa away i can take... but the fact that we conceded 4 goals is worrying, when one of our main summer acqisitions was a £6m centre back-whose ability to play left back looks suspect. I bet the likes of Tevez, Martins, and Defoe are licking their lips at the prospect of a Ben Haim and Richard Dunne centre back pairing. (Dunne is a great defender, but his only deficiency is his lack of pace-ala Terry, Ben Haim-i have yet to be convinced of his qualities) Plus, I don't know where our goals are going to come from-now that Bojinov's out (unless Jo proves to be some sort of hybrid mix of Maradona and Pele.)
