Didn't see the match but my of course first reaction of being gutted at a City loss was replaced by what many have said above. Villa is going to be a tough place to visit, they're a good out fit and have some great players. Shame we shifted four but two goals on the road is some consolation.

I truly hope Valerie is nothing serious. I cannot stress how disappointed I am for him and City.

When is Jo due back?

Bring on West Ham, if we can shut down Ashton we can win this.

Ruptured Achilles, keep up Danny. ;) My guess is we wont see him again this season, even if though the doctors are saying 6 months.

I watched the game and we were holding our own for a long time. Evans did well, talk about thrown in at the deep end.

The defence became over run for the goals. Okay you can argue that the defending wasnt great, but the midfield didnt support in closing down and tracking back.

Villa are no mugs and will be a team up there this season I think. Martin oNeill is a good manager and will get a lot of his team.

Its the first game, we have a lot of players missing, some longers than others but lets wait and see.

I was as disappointed last week like everyone else at the results.

Well he has snapped his tendon and is out for 6 months, how can that not be serious?

I heard it snap.... Ouch.

We couldnt believe it. There were a few unhappy faces in the stands I can tell you!

3 of the 4 goals came from crosses from their left wing (Corlukas area). Truth is, score flattered them, 3-2 was more a reflective result on the day. We had no composure on the ball at times and gave away possession in our own half too many times.

Boj - so sorry for the lad - he must be 100% gutted and for City it's a massive blow.

I thought Colruka didn't give 100%, seemed to be lacking a bit of enthusiasm.

We need to get a result against West Ham now. Hughes will certainly make the players understand his feelings and should get them pumped upf ro the first home game.

Villa looked good, hope they lose Barry to Liverpool.

Do you remember the name of the City keeper who did his during a pre-season friendly against Wolves?

I was at that and it was like a gun being fired.
I remember him punching himself in the face cos he was in so much pain. :(

The goal from their corner....

Fuck knows why Corluka put it out for a corner!?

Because quite clearly you could hear Hart scream at him to put it out. Hart panicked.

Also, Fernandes is giving the ball away far too often in midfield. I'm baffled as to why he's starting and Ireland isn't.

Fernando had a mediocre Euros didn't he?
Seems to have lost form and confidence cos he was good for us and country for a while.

Yeah I agree.

He keeps hold of the ball for too long and end up losing it.

bad day at the office all round - we folded after they scored their second - defensively if micah wasn't there it would have been worse

I dunno Cloudy, I think he's always been poor in possession. He got away with it last year because he was new, young and had lots of energy. He's gotta show more now if he's gonna be starting.

I know you can't draw too many conclusions from just two games but part of me suspects there's a bit of a battle of wills going on between some of the squad and Hughes?

Just some of the things Hughes has said about fitness levels and the tightening up on discipline at the training ground that's all.

*sigh*

We need to hold onto the ball better, more it quicker, defend much better and have a more direct approach to goal. Other than that we're fine.
