Vedran Corluka and Elano are expected to be in Manchester City's line-up for Thursday's UEFA Cup qualifier with EB/Streymur at Oakwell.

New manager Mark Hughes has been running the rule over his charges since his arrival and Corluka and Elano get their chance after a late return to training following international duty this summer.

With Jo on Olympic duty with Brazil and Benjani Mwaruwari on the injured list, either Ched Evans or Daniel Sturridge will partner Darius Vassell in attack as City protect a 2-0 lead from the first leg.

Kick-off is at 8pm.

Manchester City (from): Hart, Schmeichel, Corluka, Onuoha, Dunne, Richards, Ball, Ireland, Hamann, Elano, Fernandes, Mee, Johnson, Petrov, Castillo, Sturridge, Vassell, Evans, Caicedo.

Have we signed Castillo then? I always thought he was on loan last season.

He's still on loan, until January.

Why does the thick ex-rag insist on playing Vassell? Will somebody punch me til Vassell leaves, or something along those line's.

Can't say I'm a fan in any way, shape or form but to be fair Vassell didn't have a bad season.

Didn't exactly have a good one either did he. He scores nowhere near enough goals, and he's too much of a pussyfooter to be of any use now.

You gotta love Vass for his effort and commitment. Good squad player.

Why is Bianchi not in the squad?

Too many cattle grids around Barnsley - would cause problems for Bianchi's crutches/wheelchair/spacky feet.

Oh, and probably because we're desperately trying to sell him and don't want to risk getting him injured in a warm up or anything.

I suspect there's zero evidence to back up that rather outlandish claim.

No we dont. Rubbish upfront and out wide. A forward who cant score and a winger that cant cross. My heart drops wevery time I see him in our squad. Big part of the problem with our team over the last few seasons, OK for the championship or a struggling PL side but he really is a weak link in our side.

As for Bianchi hes not in the squad as he has made it clear he wants to go back to italy. And we have made it clear we want to sell him. £9 million. We were robbed.

I bet you're the sort that rates the likes of Lampard and Crouch aren't you? Go on, admit it.

Well yes I do actually. In that they are decent players. Vassel has scored 52 goals in 250+ appearances. For a forward that is a simply awful return.

You want to take a look at the goals stats for Lampard and Crouch ?
