Aston Villa’s success in the Intertoto Cup means that City’s visit to Villa Park for the first league game of the season has been put back by one day.
Martin O’Neill’s side will now be playing in the UEFA Cup on the preceding Thursday, so the league season curtain-raiser will now kick off 24 hours later than originally scheduled, at 3.00pm on Sunday, August 17th.

Mark Hughes will be aiming to continue the Blues’ good recent record at Villa Park, which has seen them go unbeaten there over the last five seasons, in his first league game in charge of City.

This sucks big time. Massively disappointed. Fair play to Villa for getting through though.

Thing is, this game won't be on Sky. They don't show the 3 o'clock kick offs on Sundays

Makes the monday morning at work that little bit more difficult, but no worries.

We drew 1-1 down there a few seasons ago on a sunday afternoon. Pissed it down it did. Got stupidly drunk. More of the same please. Except the result. And the weather.

Could we get Villa in the second qualifying round? Would that mean playing them 3 times in a row?

If we could, it would be the closest Vass could come to being a god.
