Michael Owen's punditry reminds me of that annoying uncle that shows up whilst you're trying to watch the match and then talks "knowledgeably" and incessantly about the game even though he's never played football, supported a club or been to a match.

Correct to a word. At least you can love family. Owen has no known use now, I think even his missus would be prone to yelling out 'Mike, what the FUCK are you talking about?! Please SHUT UP! Alright? Less is more Michael, for fucks sake.'.

Had I not been divorced some years ago I would have been related to MICHAEL Owen by marriage. His father in law is my ex wife's cousin.
Might have been good for free tickets

I feel a bit sorry for Michael Owen, it must be horrendous going into work knowing there are several petitions, campaigns and popular movements aimed at removing him from the airwaves. In a country divided by economical, racial and religious strife, the people are united by their shared loathing of the sound of his voice.

I think this is quite cathartic that we are at least talking about it. I might share with you all the first time I became aware of Mike (Yawn) Owen. About 15 years ago I was at a mate's place who is a liverpool fan and he had a video doc of the 19yr old wonderkid MYO. Among much footage of the him kicking goals and celebrating with a facial expression that I would describe as 'slightly less bored' or 'well that's a bit of a surprise' there were extended interviews with Mike, and by fuck he was boring. He could not have put more cheesy one liners in from the football quotes handbook. I hate him, I want him to fuck off, and he needs to be made an example of.

maybe he is just using a manual on how to be a normal, boring ex-footballer, and in his spare time he likes fucking squirrels to death or something. i mean how could he let his real self out into public if his interests and knowledge outside of football consist of the correct amount of gaffer tape to apply to a small tree rodent to stop it bursting as you slip it on, or exactly how much valium you need to spike their food with to make them catchable but still enjoyable?

you know, we might be actually glad that he has the bumper book of boring footballer quotes and has had voice coaching to pitch him perfectly between soporific and rage inducing. imagine how the lunchtime commentary could go if he started on about his hobby in some gleeful welsh/scouse jibber jabber...
