"I see there are no adverts on this so far. At least my wife won't think I'm surfing porn now."

No, I don't think I'll bother, there isn't really enough traffic generated for it to make any noticeable difference.

"I'll probably even add a 'first page' to show all latest posts like the old site had at some time.
I think that's the major thing it's missing at the moment. It was useful being able to go into any thread without having to delve through each individual forum."

For now, as mentioned previously you can click on 'view new posts' which will show all posts that have been added since you last logged on, does a similar job.

"Having seen the new forum, I think some of the stickies could probably do with removing. That's just a case of housecleaning though."

Good point, I think any mods should be able to do that and while I will look and do it as well, all mods are trusted to remove what they deem fit ;)

"Also how do I find the IP of a user? Comes in handy for Bassman's shenanigans tbf."

Seems you have now found that

"Lol Darlo is a "member""

No comment

"Mods need something to mark them as such."

Will look into this, with it being a transfer from VB to this forum some settings aren't spot on yet and mods are in 2 categories, one of which is for the 'powers' and the other the group which at the moment is the same as everyone elses.

"Also, I'm pretty sure I have the power to ban other Mods at the moment. Not that I'm complaining."

Again not sure about this, you've obviously tried and succeeded so it may be a slight issue. Something to ponder.

"Mods need something to mark them as such."

Just an update on this one, have now changed default group for the mods to different group.
Shouldn't have affected anything but if mods see a problem with anything now they are in a new group can they let me know?

Cheers
BM

Are mods important?

I see I'm junior, even though I've been here since V1!

So.......where am I today?

The ranks are just as originally intended on phpbb, there are only 3 and all ranks must be shown in relation to number of posts, not length of stay. 'Junior' is upto 5000 posts, 'member' is 5000-10000 and 'senior member' is > 10000

These can be added to and changed at a later date if needed but for now you just have to post more

Interesting! I'm actually in Blighty today in the BA lounge at Gatwick en route to Tampa. Barcelona isn't warm enough you see.

The new and unread links are pretty good to be honest BM. Once you told me that I had a good level of comfort finding my way around.

Any way of having more posts displayed on one page? In the previous forum we could have 20 or more posts on each page instead of having only 10...

Well....I'm flying premium cattle, for a weeks work, and for this pleasure I had to get up at 5am on a Sunday and get home 7pm next saturday.

Flew into heathrow, transfered to Gatwick.

Oh and I've been before and its not in my top 50 of places to visit and the work will be no fun I can tell you. Its of no pleasure for me.

The only upside for me is cheaper electronics. Might get myself an early birthday present of a PS Vita.

I suppose it will take a bit of getting used to. Needs a front [page thing for latest posts . Thank you BM for your efforts.

Once it has a new post splash page, it will be as good as the old site. Might take a bit of getting used to though (people say that everytime something changes though).

Appreciate the work BM.

Yes, it is helpful to see anything you've not read. I will still probably do a front page similar to the old forum some time this week though. Seems to be one of the bigger issues being mentioned at the moment.

"Any way of having more posts displayed on one page? In the previous forum we could have 20 or more posts on each page instead of having only 10..."

Now set to 20.

"Signatures seem to have disappeared."

Signatures on previous posts that were brought over from the old site are showing, it's only on new posts.
If you want a signature, I'm afraid you will just have to create a new one using User Control Panel --> Profile --> Edit signature.

BM in relation to the ranks..senior/junior..If you could change them, then maybe have something city related would be cool.
and maybe have rank change every 1000 posts and so on,to give people incentive to be post whores... :D

Just a thought mind....

I like that. I've seen it in a few places. Youth player, reserve, bench warmer, squad player, starting, etc...

Does this mean we can have the 'fit birds thread' back?
