Bad form on the religion thread mods.

I just read that from start to finish and found it a pretty balanced and informative read. Also, in a moment of forum rarity, there had almost been a consensus reached between differing opinions.

Are we shit scared of honest debate?

The most offensive post in the thread was Frank calling Mrs W a "drama queen" for finding the infant death of her brother upsetting.

A shameful moment in moderating. Hang your heads.

Oh and for the record..I did try to get england and not great britain on my passport along with 'Jedi' as my religion....

Surprised to find when they stuck the camera into my knee there was nothing left of my anterior cruciate ligament at all. All of it completely ripped to fuck and gone.

Sorry Frank for the delayed reply.I am in the middle of moving house and helping to sort my nephews wedding tomorrow. I have not even looked at the forum since about 7 this evening.
I just don't think that this is an appropriate forum to be discussing religion. It can cause too many problems and fallings out which are not needed. You may do as you wish. it is rare I know for me to have such a definite opinion, but I was brought up not to discuss religion or politics as I said. I think they are both private matters.
Old age strikes again! I don't mind if you wish to make this PM public.

Shimmer nothing I have said is aimed at you. I would no more try to impose my religion on you than you would yours on me, but some people might and if they don't have the opportunity they cannot.

i didn't impose my religion on anyone. i have answered to questions but if people cant stand it or don't wanna bother with claiming that there's a possibility that people might get hurt shouldn't mean that we should lock the threads, in other words limiting to freedom to speak(write)

Admirable Bert, but just because you may find it uncomfortable to discuss politics/religion does that mean that nobody else should get the opportunity?

Do we now lock "The News Thread" too, because that's riddled with political banter. In fact someone had better tell Paxman pretty fucking soon before he finds out from someone else that we're about to lock Newsnight.

AIDS apparently.

I'm attending physio on friday next week to see if I'm going to need a full ACL reconstruction or if I can manage without it. Can't really have the operation because it will mean having six weeks minimum off work. Not going to happen. I might have to give up 5 a side and get back into something non-twisting. Thinking I might get a road bike.

You may have been brought up to not discuss religion or politics and that's fine, but were you brought up to deny other people the opportunity to discuss what they want to? If you don't like discussing them then just don't, you didn't need to go in that thread. Like Bastard said it was a balanced discussion, there wasn't any mudslinging.

I wouldn't walk up to a bunch of people in the pub having a decent discussion about religion and say 'oi, lads, we don't talk about religion in here', I'd just go find someone else to talk to.

Bad or good. The distinction is important.
