I'm pretty sure I saw Ride with Slowdive supporting them in 92 ish. That's gotta be a big hitter. Early 90s Shoegaze Top Trumps score 8.5/10

I definitely saw Curve with Swervedriver supporting them in Manchester University's Main Debating Hall autumn 93. I'm saying neither of those bands are genuine shoegaze though. Early 90s Shoegaze Top Trumps score 2/10.

Hope Bassy doesn't call me out on finding tickets for these gigs!

You can only gain points by direct association - ie buying an obscure Pale Saints/ Swervedriver split 10" on white label from an obscure rock basement staffed by moody, silent music snobs who sneer every purchase.

I don't understand why Bassy's name-dropping Husker Du and Loop. They weren't shoegaze. Loop supported Godflesh. Maybe they're Metalgaze? Do you like Metalgaze Bassy?
