Brit Awards organisers are reportedly struggling to persuade former winners to attend the 30th anniversary ceremony next week.

Groups including Coldplay, Dire Straits and Travis have all been nominated in the one-off 'Brits Album of 30 Years' category, but have so far allegedly snubbed the London event on February 16.

"Invitations have gone out to all concerned but it is now a tricky situation," a source told The Sun.

"Dire Straits, The Verve and Oasis have all split. Sade won't go as she likes to protect her privacy.

"Chris Martin and Co have turned us down as they're recording and preparing for shows. Duffy is in the studio in the US. Organisers are exploring all avenues to resolve this."

Phil Collins and The Verve's Richard Ashcroft have reportedly among the few former winners that have agreed to attend the event.

Bookmakers have made Oasis' 1995 LP (What's The Story) Morning Glory? the favourite to win the 'Brits Album of 30 Years', which has been decided by Radio 2 listeners.

I was just thinking that if Bassman had started this thread it would have been all about taking a dump.

Rated and slated.

I assumed it would be a detailed and amusing description of the after-affects of particularly lively curry last night :(

The best thing that happened was when KLF appeared with Extreme Noise Terror. That was funny.

Utterly uninterested and have never given them a second thought until now - that has interested me - what happened?

They did a full on death-punk version of "3am Eternal" at the climax of which they pulled out machine guns and sprayed the audience with blank rounds. Later, at the official aftershow party at some glitzy London hotel, they pulled up outside in a shabby old van, opened the side doors, and threw a dead sheep out onto the red carpet. then drove off. One of my favourite episodes in pop history EVER.

Excellent. Not sure how that passed me by, I was rather fond of ENT back in the day, "Holocaust in your head" was a stonking album. Might have to get a non vinyl version sorted cos it doesn't look like I'll get a turntable sorted in the near future.

Credit to the Brits, it may be a sack of shit but has left me reminiscing. This is up there with the best output from the Peel Sessions for me (Peel Your Head: Eat Static/Banco de Gaia/Timeshard would be another big contender). Some great bands and great tracks:

you know... when he first posted that, i wondered what the fuck he was on about.

the penny dropped months later when someone else mentioned it in the same breath as a story of him seagulling some poor fucker.

my opinion of his base nature didn't actually go any lower.

after all, you can't dig through solid granite.

KLF actually won best band that year - sharing it with Simply Red.

You couldn't make it up.

The thing I found particularly base about that was that it suggested he found the whole process of taking a dump so overpoweringly erotic he couldn't help but submit to a wank there and then.

not even the traditional scat thing of it being someone else's bowel movement. his own was enough.

actually. i remember reading a letter in bizarre "i really enjoy pooing, does that make me gay" where the intimation was that the stretching of sphincter involved in taking a massive dump was akin (albeit in reverse) to taking a massive schlong. the reply said yes, yes it does.

bassman?

I saw Brandon Block absolutely off his tits on drugs in El Divino Ibiza about 10 years ago. He was literally foaming at the mouth.
