I can assure you that they are every rock cliché in the book. Big, dumb, sad old nonsense rock.

In fact Gene whatsisface, the main one, actually admits that "i don't want to be groundbreaking...i'd sooner someone else do that, then i come running in at the last minute and coin it all in." Or something like that.

Truly horrific.

You just described yourself

Like I said, I'm no expert, but isn't that the deal with Kiss though?

It's kind of parody isn't it? I dint think it's meant to be taken too seriously is it?

You are extremely serious about music Bassy. Lighten up, you might enjoy it more.

The idea of the band was to put on the most over the top rock show you will ever see. They wanted to take the shows of The Who and the Jimi Hendrix Experience to a new level. They also wanted to nick the tunes of The Beatles, Rolling Stones, The Raspberries and The Move etc etc Their first album wasn't too far away from one of their contempories - The New York Dolls.

Over the years they've varied their approach - basic rock, heavy metal, power ballads, concept albums, disco etc etc. The one thing they have always aimed for is to keep things simple musically and keep the songs catchy.

One of the best live bands I have ever seen and I've seen hundreds of bands.

This is music to be enjoyed. This is not for chin strokers.

I saw Kiss in the late Seventies / early eighties. Belting gig. Gene Simmons nearly took my eye out with a flying plectrum.

Mastodon are playing Manchester the night of the Liverpool home match..........

I'd come down for AiC but it's a monday night innit.

You, on the other hand, have no excuse for not coming up here for football & metal.

Not seen them yet? Make sure you don't fuck up this time.

Last time I saw them headline they were supported by a pysch-surf band called Fiend Without A Face - aka Mastodon, but wearing face stockings and a Tommy Copper Fez. The hand tatts gave them away.

Never been to that one. The only Manc venues I've been to are the MEN, Apollo and The Ritz. Hope the game doesn't get moved too far away from that date.

Be a sunday at worst.

Academy's alright. Big rectangular room with a stage at the end. Maybe 2000-2500 capacity. Can be very loud when it wants to be.
