As much as i love Joy Division, the finest band from Manchester to me, were The Chameleons.

Hmmmmm, an interesting consideration, what is the best band to come from Manchester?

Edit: I like Script of the bridge, but they didn't continue the fine start IMO. They were probably the loudest guitar based band I have ever seen though (when they played the International, mid-late 80's)

They did quit early, at the time, due to their manager karking it.

Never saw JD live Gibbi but agreed the film Control is excellent. You need to also realise it was a film, as was 24HPP and there was plenty of writer's licence allowed with both. They're films. Good bands, take from them what you will.

I didn't bother watching the film Control. I'm not into bio pics. May check it out sometime as I do like the band. I spent a bit of time playing the Joy Divisioin box set a few weeks ago. Cheered me up no end.

Tbf i don't think he is judging Joy Division by the films in any way? Unless i've missed the point of what you're saying.

You're right though, Control is excellent. As is 24HPP. Steve Coogan is superb.

Not at all no. My mate lent me Control, and while I knew who Ian Curtis was at the time, I had only really heard Love Will Tear Us Apart. Since then, I've been a big fan.
