OK, so I'm having a bit of a leaving do tomorrow (I'm not exactly sure when I'm off to the I Love Man yet, but it's soon), and it's going to involve Karaoke. There will be a certain amount of pressure here as a fair number of the crowd going along are pretty accomplished singers, me, not so much. With that in mind, does anyone have any tips on good tunes to belt out? I'm pretty comfy with most of Dean Martin's repertoire, but they aren't exactly floor fillers, and I still have nightmare flashbacks to trying to do American Pie once (it's about 10 minutes long, and you really don't know it as well as you think).

Tips?

:D

That's a sharp, well tailored suit. Not sure I'll be looking that good.

Some of the songs will prolly be sung very well indeed. I'm not really nervous (much), it will be a laugh. Besides, I expect after an hour or so that it won't really matter. We're pretty much taking over the pub for the night.

Try something by The Monkees if they have any. All in a pretty narrow range so easy to sing. (in theory)

I can definitely promise the latter. The last time I was there I had to break a window to send a mate through to get back into my house.

It's gonna be good.

I was dragged to a karaoke night at New Union* - I got hammered and very nearly decided to sing 'Gay Bar' - which would have no doubt gone down well.

*I'm well aware New Union is on Canal Street. Three of my flatmates are of the homosexual persuasion (there are only four people in my flat) so I get dragged out with them occasionally.

I'm trying to decided whether you mean (a) I actually wanted to go, and only say I was dragged because I don't want to appear gay, (b) I went out dressed as a woman, or (c) all of the above.
