There once was a wanker called Moyes
Who jumped up and down and made noise
Saying 'I am the boss'
Mark Hughes gave not a toss
And so out of the pram went the toys

Thats ian brown. lead singer of the stone roses. Part creator of what is indy music, manchester icon and all the rest.
Liam gallagher could not be as cool as brownie if he fell into a ice making machine with a polar bear on his head..

The man smoked a joint on telly, before the happy mondays knew what drugs were....

But not as good as men at work though...

New Ian Brown track is alright. His last album wasn't very good really.

He's a legend for creating "one of the finest debut albums of all time". The Stone Roses is fucking great. Part creating indie? Not so sure about that but i stand to be corrected.

not a chance. indie was around way before the Stone Roses.
i would say what is known as post-punk, is the origin of what is now termed 'indie' and that is pretty ambiguous in itself, as indie originates from independent label. and indie has become mainstream, so WTF is that all about? even Kylie Minogue once topped the indie charts.
but even the Velvet Underground, who are pre-punk, could be seen as indie.

Also genius. The Smiths have a greater body of work and most of it is brilliant, but I am not convinced that The Smiths have one single album that eclipses The Stone Roses debut.

That said, Johnny Marr is a God.

I think all their albums eclipse Stone Roses' first.

Horses for courses innit. I love the Smiths, but that first Stone Roses album is unbelievable. Mind you, I think it might be a case of having to be there. Sometimes an album only really works in the time it was released. I have a sneaking suspicion this might be the case with The Stone Roses. That can certainly be said for some music.

I listened to the stone roses debut album a while ago for the first time in ages. And although I enjoyed it, it didn't have that same... something anymore. I don't know, it's hard to put my finger on why. Kept in context with the times though, you can still appreciate the influence it had.

I don't think this is the case with The Stone Roses to be honest. I think it's pretty timeless, to me it still sounds current and, musically, made a pretty big impact on me as my my music tastes were changing.

One of my all time favourites.
