Too late to save you from a coodering. But i have heard of it and used it. But it seems a bit intricate for my simple brain.

Had a play with an earlier version a few years ago. I wasn't too fond of it really, a bit restrictive as I recall.

Reason is the best for beginners. Superb bit of kit.

Agreed, its great to play with, and pretty versatile...

B...do you use ableton and or use and vst instruments..?
I wanted to just mess about, i see theres a ableton suite .

I mentioned it to daz, and he just shrugs, its like second nature to him, and he'll just blah a load of babble at me and expect me to instantly know it....

I get the itch to just mess around making funky drum tracks up..:)

For funky drum tracks I'd definitely be sticking to Reason. I find it much quicker and more intuitive. Knock up a drum track in Reason, then route(Rewire) it through Ableton for better sound quality.

I started on Reason then graduated to Ableton. Use a few VSTs, try not to get too many on the go because you can end up spoilt for choice and not getting much done. I use MiniMoog, Native Instruments FM8, and Dominator synths. Mostly for basslines. I've got a Korg synth that I use for other bits and pieces over the top.
