Someone mentioned this to me ages ago, it may have been Kimbo. Anyway, just stumbled across this, which is pretty damn cool.

Used to have loads of fun with a couple of reel-to-reels back in the day - Frippertronic style.

Can highly recommend it.:)

Got traded in for some polyphonic kit.

I bought the MS10 when they first came out in about 78 & the SQ10 a couple of years later.

Good times.

Im fucking very impressed by the reel to reel, and the sequencer up there..
I think bastard ask my mate darren what he uses to make music..
I heard a instant Ableton...lol

We were talking yesterday about the clip benny posted ..
This one mr robotnick and his buddy..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H511Iye6BsI&feature=channel_page

I got darren to watch it and he was impressed but, reiterated that all the 'tend of thousands' he spent on hardware is almost completely been wiped out for his needs by software and a decent pc...

That reel to reel is off the fucking hook though, proper old school technique of mixing....i love it..

Must say im a big fan of scratch bastard...
Just for this clip, its pure ownage in mixing..the big lad looks all smug like hes got in the bag.
And scratch bastard gives him a little sideways look, and then just drops the bomb on his ass..crowd reaction says it all....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M0LbMQTvlBU&feature=channel_page

Oh and i can't leave with out Daigakuin cut from a certain dj kentaro...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPutHJ4qCss&feature=channel_page

kentaro when he won the dmc finals won it with the most points ever....
could be the best ever...on a set of decks a fucking genius..:approve:

Edit: fuck..kentaro at 2.58 after backspinning the record...OMG awesome

I'm disagreeing with Darren there. Analog synths will always have more bollocks than their softsynth counterparts.

Soulwax have an interesting chat about it in here somewhere...
