I'm in need of some Rn'B and Hiphop songs for an acoustic set. Odd I know but there's a world tribute to hiphop on in the town near my house and my friends and I were asked to perform about 5 songs on our guitars. I've only got What's Golden by Jurassic 5 as a definate so far. Ideas?

You could also take a leaf out of Elbow's book, they've done a couple of text book RnB covers:

Amerie's "One Thing"

I'd be tempted to have a blast at Donnell Jones' "You Know What's Up". Classic song.

Do you have a rapper and you're just providing the music, or are you singing too?

Anyway, I reckon OutKast's stuff should be pretty easy to do. Something like Ms. Jackson, Hey Ya or Roses. Or maybe something by N.E.R.D. or Nelly. Actually, a lot of Kanye West's stuff is pretty musical too.

Oh, if you've got a bass, then I'd say do Rappers Delight by The Sugarhill Gang. :D

Paper Planes or Come Around by M.I.A.
Ambitionz Az a Ridah or California Love by Tupac
Drop it Like it's Hot by Snoop Dogg
It's Tricky by Run DMC
Express Yourself by N.W.A.
Walk This Way by Run DMC & Aerosmith
Baby Got Back by Sir Mixalot

But personally, I'd say you get your hands on a didgeridoo, and play this. :D

Then of course there's this.

So far we've got-
What's Golden - Jurassic 5
No Sleep Til Brooklyn - Beastie Boys
Paper Planes - MIA

We need 2 or 3 more and preferably some famous ones that people will know, as much as I really enjoy some songs recomended I doubt many of the people of Portadown will know them. :(

Will Young did this in the live lounge. Worked quite well

Something by Justin Timberlake might transfer well (well it's not exactly a million miles away from acoustic anyway). My personal favourite is LoveStoned. It's quite boring for about 4 minutes, but then gets pretty good.
