I think it's mainly because i hate Sgt Peppers. I do like Hard Days Night, that's a good album, but i really do think Sgt Peppers is awful, and i just can't get past that.

Ok. It still doesn't sound like a word.

Just one of those words for me. Like length. That's a disgusting looking word.

I much prefer "girth".

If you do like Oasis Squidge, you have to admit they've made an entire career out of reinterpreting Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.

Didn't say that. You'll not rile me. Benny made a noble effort and failed.

In my humblest of opinions, it's a shit album. I tried so hard to like it as well. And it doesn't help that everybody in the world seems to love it, so i couldn't shake the disapointment of it not living up to what i was hoping.

On the 40th anniversary of the album somebody (not sure who, but it was somebody of reasonable note) claimed that Sgt Peppers "changed western civilisation forever". Naturally, it was never going to live up to that hype with me as that's a bit ridiculous.

Especially when you consider it's not even that good ;)

Biggest: The band and or singer that was will be remembered as the best of all time, due to their stage presence, longevity, number 1 records and affect in the music world

------------------------------------------------------

this point discounts the Beatles then. When they performed live, they were a kids act. They were also fairly poor/mediocre live and even admitted as much so retreated to the studio.

Why do you listen to all the hype and let that change your expectations? Ignore what everyone else says and then try and make your own opinion. If you'd felt less pressured to like it you might have ended up appreciating it more.

To understand the Beatles influence you need to listen to the charts before and after they came along. And see how they influenced the sound on both sides of the atlantic.

And Beatle mania was real, nothing like it seen before or since.

On a scale of manias, if the beatles are at one end and 5LL at the other, bros would be in the middle just behind the bay city rollers.

5LL being the most manic of manias, yes? I hear that tickets for their gig in Japan sold out so quickly, some people don't think they were ever on sale.

Not quite what I said, but what's a misquote between friends?

I don't like the album full stop. I think it's shit. That's my own opinion, formed by me and evryfink. Just, with the backdrop of the hype, it makes it that little bit more disappointing to have found it so shit. I'd expected it to be really good and it isn't.

Just my opinion of course, but one not influenced by anybody else thnkuverymch.

The Beatles are winning this poll? Pullleeeeassse. I love the Beatles however let me explain something, The Beatles came after The Beach Boys (whom they cited as huge inspirators) and the BBoys came after Elvis who was an enormous idol to The Beach Boys, The Beatles and practically anyone who had the ablity to hear.

Elvis [/clear cut winner]
