I hate Bobby Charlton.

A gang of us saw him solo at the Witness Festival years ago. We were sitting around at the end of the day talking about how brilliant his set was. Inevitably, talk turned to his size - he looked like he was hitting 20 stone.

One of the lads turned to me and said "Slart, what the fuck happened to Frank Black?"

I thought for a few seconds and then replied: "I think he ate the rest of The Pixies".

He's a rude fucker though. A few years ago he played in Tower Records in Dublin. I wasn't at the gig. He did a signing session and refused to answer any questions and wouldn't make any eye contact with anyone. I was passing by the shop and when the event was over. I was chatting to a mate who worked in the shop. He said Frank Black was a total prick.

Frank left the shop by the front door. Two or three fans walked up to him and asked him to sign cds. He just blanked them and walked very slowly past them.

Rude bastard.
