Is that because of the type of music they played, or just generally???

Download is a rock festival. They are not a rock band.

I have very broad tastes in music but I thought they were awful. Five minutes was all I could handle.

Fair comments. It was a bit of a surprise they were included to be honest...
Did you see Biffy Clyro or Bullet For My Valentine??

Nope. Seen both before. They are ok but there was other stuff on at the time. Both bands play loads of shows and are easy to see - Rose Tattoo hardly ever come over to Europe and haven't been to Ireland for about
25 years so they take priority.

Did you manage to catch 36 Crazyfists? I love that band but haven't seen them live yet.

Missed them for some reason. I may have been in line for a burger during their set.

New bands that impressed me were Airbourne - like an Australian AC/DC but with everyone in the band behaving like Angus - and Job For A Cowboy.

Again, I have to say the ancient bands were the best. I gor to see Kiss at last - they blew up the field. Judas Priest played their new Nostradamus concept album and Rod Halford wore a silver cape, Motorhead played a Thin Lizzy song - Rosalie/ Cowgirls Song and Saxon were brilliant.

I was in Saxondale heaven!

I saw Kiss on their reunion at Donny 1996 and have to say they put on a great show.

On the way to the site the taxi driver said he had seen Kiss in the early 80s. He declared it was the worst show he had ever seen in his life. "It was just loads of explosions" he said. "An insult to ones intelligence". When I got in the cab he said "Donington Park?". I was wearing a Rush t-shirt, combats and boots. "Isn't it obvious" I replied. "I wouldn't want to assume too much" was the pompous reply.

I didn't tip him.

there was a band i saw on Friday, just a covers band. They started off with Rush, couple of tunes, Spirit of Radio was one, and another that involved a 10 minute drum solo, then they finished off the set with Franz Ferdinand!! how does that work!?!?! strange.
