First single bought = Dead or Alive - You spin me round on 7" single

First album was given to me, and it was Pink Floyd - Dark side of the Moon

Love this band. My favorite band of all times. Over the years I think pretty much every track has been my favorite at one time or other. That's why I never tire of them, cuz my taste in their stuff keeps evolving.

The Clash formed the basis of my musical education. I was 12 in 1977 and the Clash and the Jam set me up nicely. I like to think I have great musical tastes and I'd like to thank Joe Strummer et al for that.

If nothing else London Calling is one of the finest album covers of all time.

Concur, i think i prefer "the clash" album to "london callng" though as punk floats my boat. Tommy Gunn and Stay free from "give em enough rope" and police on my back from "sandanista" are more of my favs:)

There is a whole bunch of good stuff. The thought of Tommy Gunn sends shivers down my spine actually.

Joe Strummer jumped off the stage at the Olympia in Dublin and we mobbed him like little girls at an Osmonds show.

I cried when I heard he died.

I loved the Clash, saw them on many many occassions, around 30 I'd say.

The only celebrity EVER who's passing had me with a tear in my eye was Joe Strummer.

Finest track for me: The Call Up.

Strummer's Mescaleros albums are superb also.

Oh and my first ever album was Paul McCartney and Wings - Band On The Run.
