1 Love - Forever Changes A perfect album.

2 Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath The most influential record ever made.

3 Thin Lizzy - Live and Dangerous Great songs and the greatest front man who ever lived.



1 Beach Boys - Pet Sounds A perfect album.

2 Rush - Signals Because I bought this when it came out in 1982 when I was 13 and played it to death then and still listen to it today.

3 Tool - 10,000 Days Heavy, dark and one of the most moving albums I have ever heard.

Conceptual masterpiece, I have never heard and am sure will never listen to something quite as brilliant. Thematic, deep and moving...quite amazing.

2. The Beatles --> Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band


Just listen to it :P

3. The Mars Volta --> Frances the Mute


Great album through and through, only got into them recently and i was amazed at this piece of work. I despise most of todays music but this is in here for me because it is so different and brilliantly worked.

i bought an album called the trip which was songs selected by snow patrol...

from songs on there i bought the albums of repulblic of loose, rilo kiley, the duke spirit who id never heard of before... they are good.

My list always changes, but these 3 are always there or there abouts...

I cannot name the other two as there are too many, but in my top 3 will be this album. It does stuff to me that musicians could only hope would occur to a listener. At times it inspires me, other times it motivates me, gives me some perspective on my role in this world, makes me want to play guitar again, it sometimes makes me want to break the land speed record in my car. But most of all the reason I love this album is because it has the ability to shift me emotionally. In a way that no other album of at least the last 6+ years has come close to. There is a favourite song in this album, for a very good reason. Every time I listen to the title track it send shivers down me. At first it didnt, thought it was a fine 11 minutes of music but then I wondered from the lyrics 'what's that all about?'. So I investigated.

I dont think I have ever read or heard a more truer and heartfelt admiration from a person for his Mother in my days. Staggering. IMO. And it's a fucken belter of a tune too.

9.5/10 album.

See i don't get the Sgt Peppers thing...this isn't even my anti beatles thing either, i just don't get it. They've made far better than that, even i can see that.

And Withy....Boy Kill Boy?? I thought that album was average at best.

Anyhooo...

Bright Eyes - I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning
Lyrical genius, i love Conor Oberst and for me this is his best effort so far. My favourite lyricist.

And now, seeing as you don't like Oasis there's no point including Morning Glory because that will serve no purpose as a recommendation to you will it?

So next i'll go with Stephen Fretwell - Magpie

Finally, i'll go with what i'm into at the moment... Lightspeed Champion - Falling off the Lavender Bridge
Got a lot in common with the Bright Eyes album, but avoids being the same.

I suppose they aren't my three favourite albums, but they'd be three of my top recommendations.

A new album, it's brilliant. I love this album so much i can't explain.

I also want to suggest Dan le Sac v Scroobius Pip - Angels and any of the We Are Scientists stuff.

I love Pixies "Doolittle", Soundgarden "Superunknown" and Jane's Addiction "Nothing's Shocking", but you've probably heard those.

So, if its recommendations you're after, I'd give these a go:

Kings of Leon - Youth and Young Manhood - One of the greatest debut albums I've ever heard... still
MGMT - Oracular Spectacular - Just seen them live, really very good, a lot better than I thought they would be to be fair.
Richard Ashcroft - Keys To The World - A great solo effort from the Verve frontman!
