I would say technically you could as you could light it off an existing flame and therefore no spark would be involved. I accept there is an arguement that says there must have been a spark somewhere way back down the line but I still don't think the lyric fully stacks up.
Personally I prefer the more sustainable lyric of "I wanna be like you" from the Jungle Book when it comes to fire inspired songwriting.
Now don't try to kid me, mancub
I made a deal with you
What I desire is man's red fire
To make my dream come true
Give me the secret, mancub
Clue me what to do
Give me the power of man's red flower
So I can be like you
You!
I wanna be like you
I wanna talk like you
Walk like you, too
You'll see it's true
Someone like me
Can learn to be
Like someone like me
Can learn to be
Like someone like you
Can learn to be
Like someone like me!
No I completely see the error there. You can start multiple fires without a spark, and therefore can start
a fire without a spark, but the original fire needs a spark, without which the subsequent fires would be meaningless, so Bruce has a point there.
I also accept your lyrics. Jungle Book. Cracking film, however a few points, because I don't think King Louie really got down to the nitty gritty of fire, being an orangutan. His words are very general, and for me, lack the emotional intensity of Dancin' In The Dark.
I like the Beastie Boys' 'Unite' if we're keeping it simple.
"Well ice is cold and fire's hot"
Little bit simple, little bit sexy.
