Im all the way with the gilmour love in.....but the question is do you prefer the 1st or 2nd solo on comfortably numb? I like the 2nd...anyhow heres my top 3

1. Comfortably Numb - The Floyd - David Gilmore
2. Ball & Biscuit - White Stripes - Jack White
3. Sugar Sweet - Freddy King

I tried it on Firefox with no success then tried it in internet explorer and it worked just fine.

14/16. Got The Police and Yes the wrong way round.

One of my favourites in there though:

Janes Addiction - Three Days. Dave Navarro's my favourite guitarist ever. He recorded this epic six minute monster of a solo smacked up to fuck in one take. Beautiful fluent playing.

Yngwie Malmsteen - Now is the Time. Spine tingling emotion and wondrous technical ability from the codmeister.

Sam & Dave - Hold on I'm Coming. I think this is Steve "The Colonel" Cropper. One line, six notes, absolutely perfect.

I'd also include just about anything by Iron Maiden, Carcass or Van Halen.

The singer in guns and roses, his voice irritates the hell out of me. I don't know why, it just does. And that stupid dance he does. You know the one, it looks like he's pretending ice skate.

Another contentious one here but the solo played on the back of Lionel Ritchie's song 'running with the night', not sure who did it but is it pretty good.

Also solo on Beat It by M Jackson ( wasn't that Van Halen?) short but sweet.

Also love anything most things by John Squire but best for me is probably Tears from Second Coming.

"Comfortably Numb" is in there along with the solo by Jimmy Page on the live version of "No Quarter" and lately I've been listening to "If I Could Fly" by Joe Satriani.
The first two are permanently in my top three, my third favourite changes on a regular basis.

No Regrets by Scott Walker has an absolute corker in it. Totally over the top. No idea who played that.
