Got to be one the rock ballads for me but which one?

Going to say Gun's n Roses November Rain, used to have my girlfriend in tears every time she watched this video.
Also Queensryche, Silent Lucidity and Verve, Drugs Don't Work were a close call.

And nearly forgot "Always by Bon Jovi", sorry really into the 80's hairspray rock.

same here. Was that the one in the church, then that cliched video outside with slash playing a guitar that wasn't plugged in?

and for something a bit different. Dance with the Devil by Immortal Technique (underground rapper). It's some freaky shit.

Superb melancholy song was thinking about that also.

Good call.

I'll go for the Hatful of Hollow version of Back To The Old House by The Smiths. Particularly this verse:

"When you cycled by
Here began all my dreams
The saddest thing I've ever seen
And you never knew
How much I really liked you
Because I never even told you
Oh, and I meant to

Are you still there ?
Or ... have you moved away?"

I'll tag on the live version of Dream Brother by Jeff Buckley from Mystery White Boy too. Not sure sad is the right word...more like startling, but it gives the goosebumps every time.

Bright Eyes - Landlocked Blues.

Ok it doesn't make me cry but i'm struggling here. It's just a wonderful song, and if i'm in the right mood it's very moving.

Saddest song I've ever heard is Strange fruit by Billie Holiday , it's about the lynching's in the south of America before the abolition of segregation , it makes uncomfortable listening .

the most miserable song ever recorded is actually supposed to be 'Gloomy Sunday' of which Billie Holiday recorded a version.

I wonder if they've been listening to this in Bridgend.
