Really? Is it that bad? Do tell.

I was wishing I never started The Road by Cormac McCarthy during, man it was it HARD work, but I perservered and for that I got a 9.5/10 book.

Agree about On The Road.

like a mixture of reading a freemans catalogue coupled with stupid violence. No redemption, no learning, no value. IMO obviously.

I read this the other day and really enjoyed it (as much as you can a story of loss). A theme of the book is that it is possible to accept the truth of two things that flatly contradict each other...in fact sometimes it is necessary.

Very different and more thoughtful and more serious than Coe's other books too (such as 'What a Carve Up!' & the excellent 'House Of Sleep'). Recommended.

Probably the book I most relate to.
Similar upbringing similar schools similar thoughts, Bobby Kennedy especially.
Probably at the same matches.

Still reading my signed copy of Friends Like These. It's funny, but not quite as funny as his other books, imho.

Did I mention it was signed? Oh good. Cuz it is signed. My one and only ever signed by the author book.

I have read it and quite enjoyed it. As I remember it was his slightly strange relationship with his wife that sticks in my mind though.

It was in The Independent's Top 10 of travel books. Decided i was going to work my way through them.

There's also a Dave Gorman - America Unchained; 92 Archarnon Street; and Blood River all downstairs in the kitchen. I may have been bored at work when it seemed like a good idea.
