Are these all fiction?

Are there any 'true story' WW2 books written by soldiers that are any good? Iv'e been struggling to find one for ages.

I feel like crying today.

Are there any books called....

"how to not want to tear your eyeballs out with the nearest blunt object?"

or

"what to do when you feel like smacking your head against your desk"

I enjoyed this. Very well written.

A Year in the Merde was alright too.

Thanks, bastard. Just had a quick read of the reviews like the sound of both of these.

Read a few Chuck Pahlahniuk books. Sorry that's not how you spell it.

Choke and Lullaby. I've read Fight Club and I'm going for Haunted next.
So that's good.

I've read Diary as well. I highly recommend that.

"Both Barrels From Brazil", by Alan Brazil. Avoid this book at all costs, it's rubbish, just a collection of rants about immigration, the state of the country, political correctness, etc. Apparently, George Best was a fantastic footballer. Brazil knew him for 25 years and never once saw him drunk.
It's full of contradictions like "People say I drink too much. I don't but..." and then we get a collection of stories about him pissed out of his head. "People say I'm violent. I'm not, but..." and a load of tales about him beating the crap out of people.
I got half way through and abandoned it.

Exactly. The fact it's by Alan Brazil should be a giveaway that it's going to be a steaming pile of turd.

Well, you know. Stories of drinking, gambling and generally being an arse. It's just like a Saturday night on the forum...

I was expecting a few amusing anecdotes, but the only one I liked was the one about him going to report on Blackburn v City. He got stuck in traffic and after being spotted and abused by Blues, he dumped his car in a side street and hid amongst some Rovers fans, but was spotted again and ended up running for his life from from City fan armed with a metal bar!
If only he'd been caught, I would have been spared the misery of ploughing throut 50 pages of crap.
