So, I've checked my TV and see that it's a 50hz which probably explains the motion blur.

The 4k LG I've been looking at is 100Hz and, from what I read, there doesn't seem to be much point in a 200 Hz rate anyway is that's right?

Mine is a LG 200htz...model is a 47lh5000
http://www.reevoo.com/p/lg-47lh5000

i read tones of stuff before i got it, and it came out to directly rival sonys 200htz tv, and for me it was a no brainer after the reviews and so on.
It was the 'motion flow' i was so into sorting...
i had a old plasma and it did my head in, on games /sport , F1 was terrible..
and that was my measuring stick..
and F1 its perfect on mine..its 5 years old, and i see no reason to swap it for anything until it breaks..
you can pick em for peanuts...there again you can get much more advance smart tvs for buttons now..
its just was floats your boat i guess..

but defo read up on the motion flow of what ever set you go after..

nothing worse than a ball disappearing on fuzzy grass...

My 42" TV is 70hz and my 27 " 2560x1440 computer monitor is 75hz. I've never noticed and motion blur on either. Could the difference between 50 and 70 be all that?

Dunno, obvs the higher the number the better, but there's probably a threshold where the average person can't really tell. I'm guessing it's around 60hz. This hz ratio is essentially refresh cycles per second - so going back to gaming speak: a 50hz TV would equate to 50 frames per second. 60fps is the established gold standard in gaming (the more the better - but 60 is recognised as as long as it's above that, you're spot on). Here's a good example: http://30vs60.com/formula1.php.

Again, it boils down to getting down to a shop - everybody's eyes are different, plus, you're going to be very sensitive about noticing it now. I wouldn't necessarily buy the TV from the shop, just find out what spec you're happy with and then look at sourcing the best deal online. Richer Sounds are really helpful in general

Just watched the 6 episodes of Peter Kay's Car share.

So simple but very good.

I thought it was pretty cringeworthy tbh.

Yes there's a good chemistry between Peter Kay and Sian Gibson who's worked with him before and co-wrote the thing but a joke where says she's going "dogging" with her 74 year old neighbour when she means dog walking?
Not great when it's told the first time but then when it gets reprised not once, not twice but three more times in the same episode? Purleeze......
