I was in the car listening to the half times and they had a bookie on talksport giving odds in play for the second halves. Spurs - Stoke was still 0-0 and they were giving 8:1 for a Stoke win. I immediately thought "Phone Benny get him to put a bet on." Then realised there were some logistical issues with that plan.

Had to have a boac when I saw the full times come in.

You've just lost me £40 Benny you twat.

I never go in there, I have no business in that thread. It's kinda pointless. You have other excellent installations though, so, I'm okay, you're okay.

Hello everyone. I'm not a City fan but a football fan and, more pertinently, a good friend of Lakie/Benny.

I've read this thread with more than one tear in my eye but ultimately with a smile on my face.

I've known Dave for many years having worked with him, trained with him, drank with him, travelled with him, and even shared a house with him. The stories are too numerous and too amusing to even think about a favourite - rest assured they will stay with me a lifetime.

The point of my post is to pass onto you guys how much he loved this Forum. You'll obviously already know that as the statistics speak for themselves - it seems Lakie was a Top Poster as well as a Top Man.

When he returned from Puerto Rico we hooked up again and he would rant incessantly about this place - how funny it was; how intellectually stimulating he found it; what a sick bunch of muthas you were..... The glint in his eye, as ever, betrayed his unbridled and all consuming passion for his new love.

Lakie didn't do things in half measures. His highs were huge and people felt priviliged to share them with him. Correspondingly, his lows were dreadful and it took a lot of coaxing to bring him back.

Ultimately I feel blessed that I was able to share some time with him and I know you guys played a large part in making his latter years a fun filled chapter in "The Life of Benny".

I look forward to meeting some of you (a few of you again) and sharing a BOAC or two.

YLTC

Jonesy

seeing jonesy here has reminded me of one of my favourite nights out with benny.

and one instance in particular:

we were sitting on the bus, jonesy and benny in front of me and let's call him mouse(for that's his name) in the seats behind.
a well fit girl got on and i leaned over to j and b and said 'excuse me young lady, but does this smell like chloroform to you' and imitated putting a cloth over one of their mouths.
after i received a pat on the back for being hilarious i turned back and had a wee chat with mouse, a few seconds later i turned back to see b and j having a full scale row.

it was about the chemical formula of chloroform.
this line was uttered - 'oh don't be so daft man, you'd need a vat of that to knock a woman out'

so smart was that man.
